About Us

Welcome to TheHomePerk. I’m Sohail Khan, and this site is something I built out of pure frustration with the home advice content I kept finding online.

Here’s the thing. Most home and cleaning blogs read like they were written by someone who’s never actually scrubbed a stubborn grease stain off a stove or tried to keep a basil plant alive past two weeks. The advice sounds fine on paper, but it doesn’t hold up when you’re actually standing in your kitchen wondering why nothing’s working.

I started TheHomePerk because I wanted to write the kind of guide I wish I’d had. Over the years, I’ve picked up a lot through trial and error, managing my own home, fixing small things myself instead of calling someone every time, experimenting with cleaning routines that actually save time, and turning a completely unused corner of my house into a small garden that I’m honestly still figuring out. A lot of what I learned came from getting things wrong first.

That’s why this site focuses on four areas: cleaning and laundry, DIY and home repairs, gardening and plants, and home organization. Every article is meant to be something you can use the same day you read it. Whether you’re dealing with a stain that won’t budge, a shelf that keeps wobbling, a plant that’s dropping leaves for no obvious reason, or a closet that’s turned into chaos, the goal is always practical help, not just another list of generic tips.

How Articles Get Written

Each topic starts from a real problem, usually something people are actively searching for or dealing with in their own homes. From there, it gets researched and drafted carefully, then checked for accuracy before it goes live. I try to avoid vague statements like “just clean it regularly” and instead give specific steps, amounts, or timeframes wherever I can, because that’s what actually helps.

Older articles don’t just sit untouched either. Home advice changes as new products and methods come along, so content here gets revisited from time to time to make sure it still holds up.

Being Honest About What Works

Not every cleaning trick works on every surface. Not every DIY fix is a real substitute for a professional, especially with anything electrical, structural, or plumbing related. And not every plant is going to thrive in every home, no matter how good the advice is. I’d rather tell you that upfront than oversell something that might not work for your situation.

Why This Site Exists

TheHomePerk is independently run. It’s not backed by a big publisher, and I’m not tied to any single brand. If a product gets mentioned here, it’s because it’s genuinely useful, not because someone paid for the mention.

If you’ve got a question, a topic you think I should cover, or you just want to tell me something worked (or didn’t) for you, feel free to reach out through the Contact page.
